All-on-4®

The All-on-4® treatment concept is a revolutionary approach to replacing missing teeth that offers several benefits compared to traditional dental implant procedures. Here are some key points highlighted in the information you provided:

Immediate Function

Patients can receive a fixed, full-arch acrylic temporary bridge on the day of surgery, providing immediate functionality. This eliminates the need for patients to wait for an extended healing period before receiving a permanent prosthesis.

Full-Arch Restoration with Only 4 Dental Implants

The treatment involves the placement of four dental implants, with two straight implants in the front and two tilted implants in the back. This configuration optimises support and load distribution, often eliminating the need for bone grafting. The tilted implants offer stability and support even in cases where the jawbone may not be particularly strong.

Graftless Procedure: The All-on-4® treatment is designed to avoid time-consuming bone grafting procedures, making it a more efficient and less invasive option for patients.

The overall cost of the All-on-4® procedure is often lower than traditional dental implant treatments. This can make the solution more accessible to a broader range of patients and the healing period is also quicker than the traditional bone grafting + implant placement procedure.

The All-on-4® treatment provides a permanent, full-arch denture that is fixed and connected directly to the dental implants. This prosthesis does not come loose during daily activities such as eating, speaking, sneezing, coughing, swallowing, or laughing. This stability can significantly boost a patient's self-esteem and confidence therefore this leads to improved quality of life.

Patients who opt for the All-on-4® treatment can enjoy a higher quality of life by expanding their diet and eating healthier foods. The fixed prosthesis allows them to eat without worrying about slippage or movement, offering a more natural and comfortable experience compared to traditional dentures.

The implant posts stimulate the jawbone, preserving bone and preventing the "sunken" look commonly associated with tooth loss, especially in elderly individuals.

In summary, if you have suffered total tooth loss and desire a permanent and stable solution, All-on-4® treatment could be a suitable choice for you. It not only provides aesthetic benefits but also offers functional improvements, a shorter treatment time, and cost savings compared to traditional dental implant procedures.

Schedule

For those ready to start treatment, we schedule a series of appointments in the following sequence:

  • Impression for temporary denture(s).
  • Tooth extraction and fitting of temporary denture(s), followed by a 4-month healing period.
  • CT scan (with optional smart guide) and hygiene treatment.
  • Implant surgery (with bone grafting if necessary).
  • Post-op check during a healing period of 3-9 months.
  • Expose implants and place healing screws.
  • 3-4 appointments for the final restoration to be made and fitted.

In cases where all teeth are missing, not every tooth requires an implant. Typically, 6-8 implants can support 12-14 teeth, with the quantity varying between males and females and for the upper or lower jaw. Each implant generally supports a 1.5 ratio of dental restoration, for example, 2 implants for a 3-unit bridge or 6 implants for a 12-unit bridge. Wisdom teeth are not replaced with implants.

For implant-supported overdentures, 4 or 6 implants provide better stability. Bone grafting, often needed in the rear of the upper jaw, involves a sinus lift. This procedure, routine but intricate, addresses bone loss due to rear molar extraction, preventing sinus expansion into the vacant space. Dr. Attila Halasz, our principal oral surgeon, has extensive experience, having placed thousands of dental implants and performed hundreds of bone grafting procedures.
